Cider is defined simply as; ‘an alcoholic beverage made from apples’ it is increasingly becoming popular in Australia and around the world. cider varies significantly in flavour .
Ciders can be classified from dry to sweet. Their appearance ranges from cloudy with sediment to completely clear, and their colour from almost clear to amber to brown. The variations in clarity and colour mostly being due to filtering between pressing and fermentation. Some apple varieties will produce a clear cider.
At Value Cellars we have collected both still and sparkling ciders; the sparkling variety being by far the more common.
Ciders are typically 7-8 % ABV in strength. Black cider, by contrast, is dry amber premium cider which has an alcohol content of 7-8 % ABV.
